Instructions for Entry

  1. Resister your class on line at SRTRC web site When you register a unique Entry Number for your class will be emailed to you. This number is important as it allows the class entries to be identified This number is used when submitting the 3 chosen media categories (Art, Photography and Essay) from that class.
  2. Produce the media: Get the class to create the media.
  3. Choose the best from each media category for submission to the competition, this will give 3 pieces of media; one of: artwork, photography and essay
  4. Produce the digital files: (Note only .jpeg or .jpg and .doc file formats are allowed. Max size for each file is 5mb)

      • For Artworks: Take a digital photograph of the artwork and produce a .jpeg file.
      • For Photographs: Digital images in .jpeg or if a photograph is by conventional film, a digital photo needs to be taken in .jpeg format
    For Essay: The written work should be submitted as a Microsoft word document .doc format or plain .txt format. If it is written by hand it needs to be scanned as .jpeg format
  5. Naming the files: the files need to be named by combining the registration number and category see below:
    • The registration number: The Entry Number you received at registration.
    • The media category:
      • Use the notation ‘art’ for artwork
      • Use the notation ‘pic’ for photography
      • Use the notation ‘wri’ for essay
      • Use the notation ‘oth’ for other
    • Use underscore ‘_’ between each notation. Example file
    • EXAMPLE: The 3 final files from a 5th class with an registration number of ‘5C#123’ might look something like this:
      • 5C#123_ pic.jpeg
      • 5C#123_art.jpeg
      • 5C#123_wri.doc
  6. Creating the email:
    • Attach the files
    • Subject: Use the registration number: e.g. 5C#123
    • Body: the following information needs to be in the body:
      • The number of students in the class that took part in the competition.
      • The class
      • The names of the chosen students, the type of media they produced and the title of the media.
  7. Email the entry to: artcompetition@theredcard.ie
